1 | Dubovica
Dubovica cove is located on the southwest side of the island of Hvar and the place nearest to it is Zaraće. For Dubovica one does not know whether it is more beautiful when viewed from the road or when you’re in it. Parking is the best along the road. The easiest way to approach it is by a narrow road that starts from the main road Stari Grad-Hvar. A little firmer footwear is recommended because the dirt road is bumpy and steep. About 10 minutes of walk is needed to get to the beach. There are almost no crowds. Vineyards on slopes, characteristical for the south side of Hvar, you can see here, too. A gentry, stone built, the 18th-century mansion fits nicely into the environment. Peace, gravel strand, extremely clear sea and the natural environment with a touch of wildness is what attracts many tourists to this, one of the most famous Hvar’s bays. There is no shade in abundance. The view from the beach to the open sea is incredible.
2 | Pokonji dol
Pokonji dol is the favorite beach of young tourists from Europe and the world on the island of Hvar. The first thing you notice is the unusual whiteness of the pebbles. It is more pronounced than on the other beaches of Hvar. There is enough shade sideways, and the restaurant is right there. It is the most visited of all the beaches I have mentioned in the article. The view to a small island with a lighthouse of the same name is just amazing. A discrete plate with a warning that it is prohibited to take away the stones from the beach tells about the desire to carry a stone as a souvenir. It is located in the eastern part of the town of Hvar. There is a mountain path from a local street to the beach. It takes about 10 minutes of walk to the beach.
3 | Stiniva
Stiniva is located on the northwest coast of Hvar and, due to the taverns and, of course, beauty, it is one of the favorite spots for boaters. Its name comes from its rocky slopes. The nearest place to Stiniva is Brusje. A paved road leads almost all the way to the cove. On the island of Hvar there are still two pebbly coves with very similar names: Vela Stiniva and Mala Stiniva. Vela Stiniva and Mala Stiniva are situated on the north side of the island not far from the hinterland place Poljica. Stiniva is a very quiet beach with exceptionally clear water.

4 | Lučišće (near Brusje)
The Lučišće bay is the namesake with a bay on the south side of the island of Hvar near the place of Sveta Nedjelja. It is located on the northwest side of Hvar, at the foot of the Brusje place. You can get there, except by boat, by car, turning from the old road Stari Grad-Hvar near the village Brusje. By a slow and careful driving through a rocky path after 4 kilometers you arrive to Lučišće. This is a pebble beach with very few swimmers. It overlooks to the island of Brač, and the clear sea and silence in the bay is what attracts the most. In the bay there is a small church of St. Joseph from the 17th century.
5 | Vela Stiniva
Vela Stiniva is located on the northern coast of the island and the nearest place to it is Zastražišće. An asphalted road, kilometer and a half long, leads from the main road to the beach. Impressive rocky sides of the bay are a feature by which it got its name. A stone country house from the 18th century decorates it. In the bay there are two restaurants. It is a real pleasure to swim in the crystal clear sea and, sheltered from the wind, lie on the gravel. Those who like rock climbing, can head for arranged paths.
6 | Pokrivenik
The beach Pokrivenik is a deep bay and also very well protected from the wind. It is located on the north side of the island. The nearest place to it is Dugi Dolac, from which an asphalted road leads to the bay. What I like, is the small number of houses in the bay. Cleanliness of the sea, peace and nature is what attracts to Pokrivenik.
7 | Skozanje
The beach Skozanje is located on the southeast side of Hvar. It can be reached in the easiest way by a paved road, somewhat winding, from the place Nova Crkva to the south coast of the island. Or by a gravel road from the place of Dugi Dolac. The advantage of the south side of Hvar is its higher insolation than the north side. Parking is a bit difficult because of lack of space.
8 | Nameless beach between the places Zavala and Gromin Dolac
This small, but very beautiful beach has no name and it is a pity not to classify it among the best. It is located on the south side of the Hvar island and can be reached via a tunnel Pitve by a road to the place Zavala, and further, to the direction of east, by a rocky ground. It is pebbly with quite steep seabed. The view opens to the nearby island of Šćedro and the island of Korčula, and it also offers a lot of shade in a pine forest. Parking of the car is a little difficult but, because of the particularity, it pays to see it. A small number of swimmers, deep sea, shade and sunlight are unavoidable advantages of this beach.
9 | Lučišća (near Zavala)
It definitely belongs to the most attractive beaches on our list. A rocky ground leads to Lučišća from the west or east side. I recommend the approach from the east through the place Sv. Nedjelja because of the shorter and easier driving through a rocky terrain. A lack is the parking space. From the rocky road to the bay a narrow hilly, but arranged path leads, so, a little firmer footwear is recommended. The picturesque scenery of the bay is unique: rocks and a pine forest are above you, and a sandy beach, crystal clear sea and view to the horizon in front of you. The bay, in the afternoon hours, provides plenty of shade from the high rocks. There is another bay on the Hvar island of the same name, Lučišća, and it is located on the northwest side of the island.
